The rare moss Acaulon schimperianum formerly known only from North America is reported from China to be a new record to East Asia. The species feature the teeth in the half of upper leaves and the laminal cells strong papillose abaxially. In China it was found on exposed dry soil in the naturally restored of removal lands which is very similar to North America.
